The key to any good yogurt bowl is intuition. Sounds silly, right?

What I mean is, the creation of yogurt bowls are all about how YOU’RE feeling. All about YOU’RE cravings. All about what YOU’RE BODY needs.

To create the perfect yogurt bowl, you’ll need to follow a few steps as there are so many choices to pick from.

Step 1: Pick your base

  • A good yogurt base starts with your preference. Low fat yogurt is a great low-calorie option with high protein. My favorite brands are Fage and Icelandic Provisions. Full fat yogurt offers a lower sugar content and is a generally healthier option. You can also keep it simple with pre-packaged yogurt cups that can easily squeeze into a dorm room fridge.

Step 2: Pick your granola

  • My favorite granola brands are Michelle’s and Purely Elizabeth. Any granola option works and different brands offer different benefits such as taste, protein content, and overall calories. Another great option to add crunch is cereal! My favorite is Catalina Crunch, a high-protein snack.

Step 3: Pick your fruit

  • Any fruit with your yogurt bowl will be delicious. For easy options, you can add berries that don’t need chopping or peeling. Blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries are all perfect options. They are high in antioxidants and will add some natural sweetness to your bowl. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with plums!

Step 4: Extra toppings!

  • This is where you can really get creative. Obviously your dorm isn’t going to contain a whole pantry of topping options. Some easy one’s are any form of nut butter, seeds, or nuts. A few chocolate chips can also be delicious. I always keep a generous container of honey in my dorm, perfect to top your yogurt bowl with!
